Roof and Rack’s contractor has installed the second and third level bunk beams, and the roofing is almost complete. Gutters, downspouts, and the trim package are the final components left to install. Gusty winds delayed the installation of the final roof panels on Wednesday. Our team has started to assemble and prepare the ground level racks. We expect to be able to start putting the displaced boats back into their new home racks by the end of next week.

New Marina Employee

We welcome Joe Brannen to our Marinas Team!  He is joining us as a full-time dockhand and looks forward to learning about all aspects of working at a marina. He always has had a love of cars and has been a car dealer and detailer for several years. He is excited for the opportunity to work here and we are happy to have him aboard.

The Landings Harbor Store

There are new t-shirts and stickers in the store this week. Nautical flag and American flag/schooner designs are now available on cotton t-shirts. The American flag schooner shirt is perfect for your Memorial Day weekend that is coming up soon, and the 4th of July won’t be far behind! Nautical flag and cut-out Landings Marina burgee stickers are great to put on your car and perfect for family and friends that come to visit. Also, as requested, we now have hat clips in stock to make sure you won’t lose your hat to a gust of wind on land or water.

Members of The Landings Sailing Club (TLSC) participated in the Windmill Harbor Regatta. Our J/24, Scarlett, did very well against the 2 J/70’s and J/24 of the South Carolina Yacht Club. Bonnie Blue, one of our other J/24’s split the four races with Scarlett on the second day. Being a part of TLSC not only allows you to build relationships and skills with Landings sailors, but also with sailors in Savannah and the Low Country.

There will be a Beer Can Sail Race and Social Event this Friday, May 12.  Racing usually begins around 3:30 p.m., returning to the Harbor around 4:45 p.m. Then the fun moves to the Dockside Bar.

Landings Harbor Storage

The dry slips are fully occupied.  We are using open slips currently to temporarily house boats displaced while we work on the rack replacement project. The wet slips and jet ski spaces are 100% full. We continue to maintain a waiting list for all slips and will fill the slips as available.

Summer Hours beginning Friday, May 26. Daily 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Carefree Boat club is adding a second pontoon boat to the fleet at Delegal Creek Marina. That makes six on the south side of the B-dock. I thank those boat owners who moved slips to allow Carefree to line their boats up in a row.

The electric work on B-dock is completed and Public Works will be completing the woodwork on the docks in the next couple weeks.
