Rhythm, Rubato, and Requests

No stranger to Savannah’s Unitarian Universalist Music Alliance, Dr. Michael Braz is an internationally known performer, composer, and educator. For more than 50 years, his pianistic and teaching skills—combined with a natural sense of curiosity and fascination—have served to make music and musicianship accessible to children and adults on three continents. As he observes, “When I sit down at a piano, something exhilarating happens—it’s the way I communicate ideas and emotions to others.” Professor Emeritus of Music at Georgia Southern University and Principal Keyboard with the Savannah Philharmonic, Braz has collaborated in thousands of performances with a host of soloists and musical ensembles.

In this MusicMix season finale, Dr. Braz celebrates the lighter side of the piano with an informal mix of “American Songbook” standards plus popular, rock/jazz, film, and Broadway themes. In addition, he will feature his always-popular Request Roulette segment, where you—the audience—help choose the tunes for a part of the show. Join us on Sunday, April 16 for a fun, family-friendly afternoon of musically “letting down your hair”

As with all MusicMix concerts, there will be a wine-and-cheese reception included with your ticket following the performance. The concert is not appropriate for young children due to the quiet needed. Tickets will be available for $30 at the door.
