Paving of Phase 2 of Yam Gandy Begins Tomorrow (Wednesday, March 1)

Tue, 02/28/2023

Tomorrow (Wednesday, March 1), Bennett Paving will begin paving Yam Gandy Road from Landings Way South (South Entrance) to Southerland Road (South Entrance). We anticipate the paving portion of this project to take approximately two days to complete.

During the paving process, Yam Gandy will be closed at times depending on the progression of the paving. Paving will begin between 8:30 and 9 a.m. and will continue until one lane is completely paved. Once the asphalt has cured (two-to-three hours), property owners along Yam Gandy and its side streets will have access to Yam Gandy.

Please note that all contractors, delivery services, landscapers, etc., will not be granted access until the asphalt has adequate time to cure. Emergency vehicles and USPS will have access.

Signage and traffic control personnel will be displayed and located onsite throughout the project. If you live on Yam Gandy Road and a cone is placed in your driveway, this indicates that paving equipment is near your property and entry to Yam Gandy may be restricted. Once the cones are removed, entry/exit is no longer restricted.

The connecting roads to Yam Gandy Road will not be closed completely. However, they will be restricted to one lane traffic at times, and you will experience delays so please plan accordingly.

Detour Routes for Phase 2 Paving:

  • Residents who live on Southerland Road will use the north exit to Yam Gandy Road to enter and exit to Landings Way South. The south exit to Southerland Road will be closed to through traffic during Phase 2 paving.
  • Residents who live on Marsh Elder Lane, Heathmuir Way, Inigo Jones Lane, Poor Clare’s Lane, Laurel Hill Lane, Sandsfield Way, Lakewood Retreat, Lakewood Court and Silver Bluff Way will use Yam Gandy Road north to exit and enter.
  • Residents who live between Southerland Road South and Landings Way South, including Coventry Close, Hobcaw Lane, and others will be directed by traffic personnel depending on the paving progression.

Thank you in advance for your patience and support as we continue to improve the infrastructure located within the community.
