Traffic Safety

Landings Security is still urging residents to practice extreme caution when approaching pedestrians and to contact Chatham County Police Department (CCPD - 911) immediately if illegal activities are observed (pedestrian stepping out in front of traffic), and then notify Landings Security (912-598-1982, option 2).

Golf Cart Crash

On January 11, Landings Security responded to a single golf cart crash in the area of Button Bush Lane. Skidaway Island First Responders and other residents were able to free one of the occupants as the cart had tipped over on top of her leg. Although the other occupant of the cart was ejected from the cart, no serious injuries were reported. Chatham Emergency Services (CES) also responded and provided an assessment of injuries sustained. The driver of the vehicle had a valid operator’s license, and the other occupant was a guest of the Landings resident. The driver stated she approached Button Bush Lane too fast. When she attempted to make the turn, the cart flipped onto its side. No one else was involved in the incident, and no common property was damaged. The cart was removed from the scene.

Theft/Vandalism

A trail camera previously deployed by Landings Security and secured to a tree by a security lock and cable was vandalized and stolen. Due to the minimal cost of the camera, CCPD was not contacted. No witnesses or suspects were identified.

Fire

On January 20, Landings Security and CES responded to a residence on Pelham Road for a structural fire. A small fire under the corner of the resident’s rear deck was extinguished by CES, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was unknown at the time of the initial report.

Suspicious Person – Unfounded

On January 23, Landings Security responded to a call from a resident who stated she saw a van park in her driveway and a man got out and proceeded to walk adjacent to the side of her house via the security cameras. Upon Security’s arrival, it was determined the man was with a generator company and performing a check of the resident’s generator.

Suspicious Incident

On January 18, Landings Security responded to a residence on Landings Way South. The resident stated someone rung her doorbell and thought they may have turned the doorknob. Upon Security’s arrival, no suspicious persons were seen, and a perimeter check of the home found nothing unusual. Extra patrols were performed in the area throughout the night, and no further incidents were observed or reported.
