Tropical Storm Nicole Update (November 9 @ 11:20 a.m.)

Wed, 11/09/2022

Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) and others in our area are keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Nicole. The storm currently is moving over the Bahamas and is expected to reach the eastern coast of Florida, near West Palm Beach, late this evening.

According to CEMA’s recent storm briefing, the earliest impacts to our area are expected Thursday and Friday (November 10 and 11) and likely will include heavy rains of up to three inches and wind gusts of up to 35 MPH in some areas. There also is the potential for tornados, which may occur with little to no warning.

CEMA remains in the Opcon 3 monitoring phase for this storm and will activate 24/7 monitoring later today. Chatham County is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Storm Surge Watch. We will continue to provide periodic updates on Tropical Storm Nicole as more details become available.
