Hurricane Ian Update - September 29 @ 7:05 p.m.

Thu, 09/29/2022

Ian has restrengthened to a hurricane as it continues moving closer to our area. Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) reported at its 6 p.m. Briefing that the storm has 75 MPH sustained winds and is moving North-Northeast at 10 MPH. Currently, the storm is approximately 150 miles from Savannah.

The brunt of the storm is expected to reach our area between 5 and 8 a.m. tomorrow (September 30). Because the storm has increased in intensity, our area likely will see mid-tropical storm force winds, with the highest winds near the coast. Forecasted rain projections are between two and four inches.

Residents are reminded that if downed trees or branches cause roadways to become impassable in The Landings and the situation is not an emergency, please report the issue via SeeClickFix. If the fallen debris is an emergency, please call Landings Security (912-598-1982, option 2).

We will continue to provide periodic updates on Hurricane Ian as more details become available.
