Residents Reminded to Be Mindful of Georgia Law When Discharging Fireworks

Tis the holiday for lots of festive fun and fireworks. If you plan to get in on the firework action this Independence Day, please remember to brush up on the dos and don’ts for expelling fireworks in The Landings.

It is important to remember that fireworks on common property strictly is prohibited. However, fireworks on private property are allowed per Georgia Code § 25-10-2 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on specific dates including July 4. Failure to comply with TLA’s Rules and Regulations regarding fireworks may result in a $49 fine, and Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) may be on property to enforce State law and the cutoff time of 11:59 p.m.

Section I:6-7 of the Rules and Regulations, found on page 41 of the 2022 Residential Directory reads as follows:

“The discharging of fireworks, firearms, or any type of weapon (e.g., pellet gun, BB gun, air rifle, paintball gun, bow and arrow, or other devices discharging projectiles) on common property is prohibited. TLA will respond and seek enforcement of Georgia law for similar acts on private property. No person in possession of a firearm or any other weapon on his or her person is authorized in TLA offices or buildings, with the exception of duly authorized government personnel in the performance of their official duties.”
