Landings Harbor Marina

The staff are gearing up for a busy summer at the Marina. As the weather warms up, we are seeing higher vessel movements during the weekends. The Dockmaster and dock staff have been training to become forklift operators to help shore up the number of certified operators on staff.

Backup Generator

The vendor installed the transfer switch and platform on Tuesday for the backup generator at Landings Harbor. During the switch installation, we did experience a four-hour power outage. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused as our fuel pumps, phone lines, computers, air conditioner, and lights were out. The generator is scheduled to arrive from the manufacturer this month.

Bubbler Curtain Project

Staff recently met with Dr. Clark Alexander from the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography UGA to discuss a partnership to proceed with the bubbler curtain project. Georgia Department of Natural Resources recommends a partnership to conduct a temporary research and monitoring program that will be evaluated through the Coastal Management Program to better understand how the bubbler curtain may affect the surrounding environment.

Marina Ship’s Store

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 8! Don’t forget to get her the perfect gift from our Ship’s Store. You could always bring her down to the marina and get a couple single serve cups of Leopold’s ice cream and enjoy her company and the view!

And since it is Mother’s Day week, Jen Sabo, Marinas Office Manager, is beaming with pride over the birth of her first grandchild! An adorable little boy named Ruhan Sebastian!

Business has been steadily picking up at Delegal, including several transient vessels stopping over as they make their way north for the Summer. Staff have been busy getting the docks and property ready for the summer season.

Electric Panel Replacement Project

The power was out on “A” Dock longer than expected while the distribution panel was replaced. Power was restored on Friday morning; all systems were inspected and are working properly. The electricians are waiting on some additional hardware from the manufacturer for the panel proposed for “B” Dock. The project is still expected to be complete by the end of the month.

Kayak Launch Dock

A new addition was installed at the kayak launch to help stabilize the system. Some weekend kayakers appreciated the improvement.
