Plant Sale Underway!
Online ordering for Skidaway Audubon’s second annual perennial plant sale is underway! Gardeners are urged to visit skidawayaudubon.org today for the most current selection.
Several plants are available for immediate pickup. These include beeblossum, jasmine, red verbena, lantana, mexican heather, paprika yarrow, pincushion, plumbago, salvia, and sedum. After placing your online order for these plants, email Audubon President Dawn Cordo (cordodawn@gmail.com) to schedule a pickup time in The Landings.
Milkweed, herbs, and turtlehead can be ordered online now through April 20. Pick up of these plants will be at Skidaway United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 23, from 11 a.m. - to 2 p.m.
The plant sale is a major fundraiser for Audubon, supporting its many environmental and educational programs, from its baby terrapin rescue program to its popular, live animal presentations, as well its litter control, bird cam, and bluebird nestbox initiatives, to name just a few.
All of the plants for sale are from a new supplier this year and attract pollinators, such as butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects. These pollinators are essential to plant life, yet have been on the decline. Increasing pollinator habitat with these highly valued plants benefits both the homeowner and the environment.
