The Joint Application has been submitted to our contact at the US Army Corp of Engineers for a review prior to a formal submittal. This application will be submitted to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Division in addtion to the US Army Corp of Engineers.

Clean Marina Meeting

Landings Harbor Dockmaster Dylan Bedortha attended a Clean Marina program stakeholder session in Richmond Hill last Tuesday hosted by the Georgia Marine Business Association and Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Some changes to the Certification Assessment form, creating a Marina Best Practices manual, reassessment timing and an incentive program to encourage participation were some of the topics discussed. Similar to TLA’s continued efforts towards maintaining our Audubon International Certified Sustainable Community certification outlined in the strategic plan, the Marinas will conduct a self-evaluation to determine the necessary steps to achieving a Clean Marina Certification designation.

GAMBA Meeting

The Marinas Director attended the Georgia Marine Business Association’s monthly meeting Wednesday afternoon. TLA has been an active member with this association in the past and looks forward to networking with the membership’s marine trade businesses that have a vested interest in the marine industry of coastal Georgia.

Leading Edge

The Marina Director recently completed a weeklong program at The Riley Center at The College of Charleston. The program is geared towards engaging, developing, growing, and empowering local organizations through leadership and high performance. This was the inaugural program since relocating this venue from the University of Virginia where several TLA staff had participated in the program.

Delegal Creek Marina

Transient vessel traffic continues to filter through Delegal Creek Marina. The inclement weather last weekend delayed the migration South causing some boaters to either cancel or reschedule their reservations. With very little available space at the Marina, some creativity was necessary in accommodating for the number of boats that were held up due to the weather. Staff continue to receive positive reviews and feedback from our transient boaters on how clean and accommodating the Marina and amenities are at The Landings.

The fixed dock restrooms were reopened Monday after adjustments and cleaning were completed to the sump pump. We apologize for any inconvenience that this caused.

The main waterline separated under the main fixed pier Monday causing a brief freshwater interruption to the docks. Staff quickly assessed and repaired the waterline before the end of the day.
