Backyard Buzz - Facts Regarding Tidewater Square Option Circulating on Nextdoor

Is the Tidewater Way option that I saw recently on Nextdoor the final rendering of work that will take place on Tidewater Square to address the issues of deterioration and drivability?

No. We first discussed this issue that has recently resurfaced in a Backyard Buzz on September 10. The image (or similar) that has made multiple rounds on social media within the past two months is simply one of five conceptual designs presented to The Landings Association Public Works Staff and Committee earlier this year by Moffat and Nicol, the engineering firm retained to prepare conceptual design options for the project, to address safety and drainage concerns and preserve the aesthetic character of our square. These designs were highly conceptual, and no recommendations have been made to the Board.

One of the biggest issues with Tidewater Square is the drainage. At this juncture, our staff team is recommending to the Board that we not proceed with any of the conceptual replacement plans. Over the next two years, we plan to focus on correcting the drainage issues, work that is necessary regardless of the ultimate resurfacing design.

Please rest assured that the Association will not proceed with a change to the Square without direct discussion with residents on Tidewater.
