Cast Away Club Event Set for September 18

Join us for a “TURTLELY” Awesome Day with the Cast Away Club on September 18 at 9 a.m. (arrive by 8:45 a.m. for registration). The event will be held at the CCA Outdoor Education Center located at the Kids’ Fishing Lagoon (adjacent to Log Landing Road and the Oakridge Fire Station).

Volunteers from the Audubon Diamondback Terrapin Rescue will be there. You will learn how the mama turtles dig their nests, lay their eggs, and finally cover up the nest to hide and protect their eggs. The group will bring live babies for everyone to touch and hold. You will be “TURTLELY” awed when you receive your yellow logoed cinch bag to carry all your stuff.

After this short presentation, everyone is invited to fish at the Kids’ Fishing Lagoon. Poles and bait will be provided by CCA.

Register by visiting our website (www.ccaskidaway.org). Email Susie Fusco (sjbfusco@aol.com) with questions.

Last month’s Je“BIRD”y  program was a huge success. Sarah Lucas and Brenda Ecken talked about Bluebirds and the Dave Scott Bluebird Trail on the island. The kids played a game of Je“BIRD”y and each one took home a birdhouse kit. Everyone had fun fishing afterward.
