We are excited to begin the year with our opening reception on September 28, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Palmetto Ballroom. Please join us to learn about our planned activities and philanthropic events. All Skidaway Island residents are welcomed to attend this vast event, which not only will introduce you to Landlovers but also to many other service and nonprofit organizations that serve Skidaway Island. As we launch our new adventures, we remain optimistic about returning to our historically popular social and fundraising activities, with a few added twists. While we have planned a full year of events, we remain cognizant of the potential impact of the recent rising COVID-19 infection rates on our events, and we will act accordingly and responsibly. We plan to follow the protocols established by The Landings Club and The Landings Association, and sponsor events where members feel comfortable in continuing to support our organization. One of our goals for this year is to increase our membership over pre-COVID-19 numbers, and therefore be able to fund more scholarships and grant requests. With the influx of new residents, we are hopeful we easily will achieve this goal. All residents of Skidaway Island are eligible to join Landlovers every year. Your dues of $30 cover a one or two person household for membership that runs September 1 through August 30. The number of activities, socials, and fundraisers will keep you entertained as we work to enrich the community in which we live. Join Landlovers and learn about this exciting organization by visiting our website (www.landingslandlovers.com). Best regards, Marian Mackle Broadway Bradshaws Landlovers already has sponsored one of its first-ever summer events by hosting the always entertaining Broadway Bradshaws (shown at right). Jared Bradshaw and his wife, Lindsey Northen Bradshaw (daughter of Landings resident Sheila Stallings), recently performed to a thrilled Landlovers crowd at Delegal Marina’s Sunset Pavilion. It was an amazing show! Many thanks to Social Directors Milli Sample and Judy Waller for organizing this Landlovers’ event. Girls Time Out (GTO) Next up is the return of Girls Time Out on September 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. Our first outing will be a Wine Tasting Happy Hour at the Savannah Wine Cellar, located in Twelve Oaks Shopping Center. We will have our own private room with a beautiful charcuterie board, and everyone will decide what wines they want to taste. It’s Happy Hour, so the cost of the tastings is half price! Each person will get her own debit card for the wine tastings and then pay when done. The cost of the event is $20 per person in addition to whatever you drink. Ticket sales end September 11. To register, visit www.landingslandlovers.com/activities/. Email Eileen Yost (eileenym@gmail.com) with questions about GTO. Landlovers Opening Reception Join your friends and neighbors at the Landings Landlovers Opening Reception in the Palmetto Ballroom on Tuesday, September 28, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This event is free to all Skidaway Island residents interested in learning about Landlovers. There will be complimentary appetizers and a member cash bar. Our Activity Chairs will have tables set up for you to visit and learn about the fun we have planned for you this year. We’re excited to report that most activities will restart in the fall, along with some new ones including Mexican Train Dominoes, Ladies 9-hole Golf, Just Dance, Cocktails with Friends, and our Cryptocurrency Interest Group. We also will provide information about the social events we will host this year, including our Holiday Party, the Winter Social, Games Day, and Closing Event. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to check out our philanthropic groups and support our Flea Market. You can join or renew your 2021-2022 membership, sign up for activities and social events, and volunteer for philanthropic projects. At the reception, we are promoting the mission of Safe Shelter, which provides safe, confidential services to all victims of domestic violence. Please bring a check, cash, or a donation of paper products and cleaning supplies.   Shown  at left are attendees at a past Landlovers Opening Reception.
