Kids Cafe Golf Tournament: Together FORE the KIDS!

All Golfers Are Welcomed to Play in L9GA

The Landings Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association (L9GA) is hosting our annual 9-hole charity golf tournament on Thursday, October 28 with a morning shotgun start on multiple courses at the Landings Club. Co-sponsored by  Sound View Wealth Advisors and Coastal Care Partners, the tournament will benefit Kids Cafe, of America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. This valuable, local program provides an after-school meal for children at-risk for hunger, as well as homework assistance, tutoring, and a safe place to be at the end of their school day and before they go home.

The idea for a food support program like Kids Cafe was conceived in Savannah in 1989 by concerned citizens after two young brothers were found in the kitchen of a community center looking for something to eat. Through Second Harvest, Kids Cafe was born, and it is now a nationally recognized nonprofit that provides hot, nutritious meals to kids across America. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised by L9GA Kids Cafe Tournament, Together FORE the KIDS, will feed our children residing locally. During the pandemic, Kids Cafe has been especially busy. Since April 2020, they have served more than one million meals to hungry children in our community!

Sign up for the tournament as a foursome on your choice of tees. Teams can be women, men, or mixed. Any Landings Club golf member with an established handicap is welcomed. The format will be Two Net Better Balls of the foursome. The cost is $50 to play, $20 for two mulligans, and $28 for lunch at our fun Party at Palmetto.

The Party at Palmetto includes a live auction of fabulous prizes emceed by some of our favorite people on the island. A few of the fantastic items being auctioned will be Dinner for 10 at Marshwood, a seven-day, six- night vacation next summer on Bald Head Island in a beautiful home that sleeps eight, a Sunset Cruise and Dinner at the Wyld for 10, and golf for three with Eddie Ambrose from Sound View Wealth Advisors at the Chechessee Creek Club.

Golfers and non-golfers alike also can support Kids Cafe by sponsoring a hole. There are different levels of sponsorship, including $50 for Friends, $100 for Bronze, $250 for Silver, $500 for Gold, and $1,000 for Platinum. All donations are tax deductible. Ask your favorite business, book club, bocce team, bridge group, or golf group to donate. What great publicity for participants! Registration of your foursome by one member of your team begins September 1 and ends October 21. Visit The Landings Club’s website (www.landingsclub.com). Then click the L9GA Events tab and select Kids Cafe Golf Tournament. The Party at Palmetto will be charged to each team member’s Club number as will the registration fee and mulligans if your team chooses to purchase them.
