The Landings Association Trending with Hashtags

Have you ever seen a friend post a photo or an update on social media with a hashtag, but didn’t really know why or what the trend is all about?

These hashtags, which are created by placing the hash character (#) in front of a word or unspaced phrase, make it easier for users to find messages/photos with a specific theme or content. Hashtags also can be used for a specific event to capture any photos taken by attendees. For example, #LandingsHarborPicnic could refer to all photos and posts from picnics held at Landings Harbor Marina.

Hashtags may look like the old school pound sign, but if you click on these little labels, you will be redirected to posts and photos taken by other people who once were in the same location you now visit. For example, on the photo-sharing service Instagram, the hashtag #sunnyday allows users to find images that have been tagged (or labeled) as containing sunshine or related to a sunny day.

This social media information can be especially beneficial when you are visiting a location for the first time or looking for ways to make the most of your visit.

In keeping with this theme, The Landings Association uses several hashtags when posting Landings-related photos and posts on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. These hashtags are:
