Landings Harbor Marina

We are seeing a definite surge of boat activity on the weekends. We have had two weekends with nearly 200 vessel movements recorded.  Our Marina staff is moving at full tilt on those days, and we have enlisted the help of some seasonal employees to lend a hand throughout the summer.  A couple new dockhands have already started and a few more will begin in the next couple of weeks.

The Marinas team is helping with the planning of the Lawn Party for all Landings residents that is being hosted by The Landings Company. This event will take place on the waterfront area of Landings Harbor on June 17th

Marina Store

New to the store this week is a new light grey color of AFTCO shorts for men and a longer 5” length for the women’s shorts in navy and khaki. We are also carrying UPF 50+ sun protection products from Coolibar.  They are the first sun protective clothing company to receive The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation. We currently have their unisex Convertible Boating Hat and their Abaco Fishing and Sun Gaiters in stock.   New colors of the nautical flag baseball hats and custom designed Landings Marinas t-shirts will be added by end of the week. Keep your eyes on our Face Book page for announcements of their arrival!

Tiki Hut

The new Garapa hardwood for the Tiki Bar top has arrived. Marinas Committee chair Mark Piven is heading up the project and the Marina staff are working hard to get it installed before the next social events being planned this weekend.  The re-naming of the tiki bar was put to a vote during a recent meeting of the Skidaway Island Boat Club.  The winning result from the recent SIBC vote is “Dockside Bar”. SIBC is working with TLA Public Works in crafting and installing the new sign.

Landings Harbor Dredging Project

The marina dredging project has continued to have its challenges. Mechanical issues with the contractor’s dredge have caused the project to be delayed. Estate Management reached out to Hydradyne, LLC, a hydraulic repair company out of Jacksonville, to repair the dredge.  They arrived on site on Wednesday, May 19th. We plan to relaunch the dredge and continue dredging areas of concern within the basin as soon as the repairs are made.

Dry Storage

Landings Harbor dry slip, wet slip and jet ski storage is at 100% capacity. We are keeping an up to date waiting list for those who need a place to keep their boat.

Forklift Maintenance

Taylor Sudden Service of Jacksonville began work on the large forklift on Monday, May 10th.  The job was completed by Thursday, May 13th. We were thankful for every one’s understanding and patience while the large forklift was out of commission.  Forklift maintenance is important to make sure we are literally firing on all cylinders during the busy summer boating season.

The Landings Sailing Program

This Friday will be another installment of the infamous Beer Can Races!  A mixture of boating and socializing will be on tap. If we can keep luck on our side, there will be a new bar top on the Tiki Bar just in time!  Saturday there will be the regularly scheduled recreational racing with the Rhodes fleet. Sunday, The Landings Sailing Club is offering a sailing class that will combine instruction on land and in the water.
