Together For A Cure (TFAC) is just around the corner! The events run from April 12 through April 20 and include all court sports, golf, and Wellness Center activities. Registration and detailed information about the event and how to participate is available on the website (www.lwga.net/TFAC). All donations benefit the Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah. Dr. Robert Visalli, Professor of Microbiology and Director of the LWGA Cancer Research Scholars Program, stated that the most recent donations (2019-2020) supported 10 Summer Scholars Research Assistantships, the creation of the LWGA Microscopy Suite within the Center Research Lab that included the capital purchase of Confocal and Immunofluorescent Microscopy equipment, and the purchase of a Luminex 200 Cell Analyzer to enhance research capabilities and attract high-level cancer researchers to MUSM-Savannah. LWGA was also credited for partially funding two research papers. TFAC is the sole source of funding for the Summer Scholars Research Assistants. Depending upon the success of this year’s fundraiser, Mercer hopes to bring seven Summer Scholars on board. It is clear that your participation has a direct impact on cancer research at Mercer. Please participate in this worthwhile event!
