The Landings Association’s Finance Department is one of the Association’s smaller departments, made up of just four employees. These individuals are tasked with the important role of managing the organization’s financial resources. Aside from making sure the bills are paid and the money is deposited into the bank, these four employees are responsible for developing and monitoring the Association’s budget, researching and recommending investment strategies, maintaining insurance and risk management programs, reporting monthly to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors, invoicing and collecting monies that are due from residents and vendors, and supporting the information technology systems throughout the entire organization. The Finance Department is audited annually by an independent audit firm. Holland, Bromley, Barnhill, and Brett, LLP were engaged to complete the 2020 financial audit. We are very proud of the results being a Non-Qualified, clean audit opinion. This opinion states that the financial statements were presented fairly and The Landings Association, Inc. was in compliance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America. Overseeing the department is Controller Jessica Henderson. Jessica joined TLA in January of 2019. Prior to joining our team, she worked for 14 years in higher education -- both public and private. Jessica holds a BBA in Accounting from Morehead State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of the Cumberlands. Monika Carr is the Budget Manger/Special Projects Coordinator. She is responsible for developing and monitoring the Association’s annual budget, the Capital Asset Management Program (CAMP), and the insurance and risk management program. Monika works closely with each department to ensure they not only are adhering to budget, but also that their expenditures are documented and coded correctly. Prior to working for the Association, she was the Special Projects Manager for a large retailer. Monika received her bachelor’s degree in Clothing, Textiles, and Merchandising from Florida State University and holds an MBA in Management from Argosy University in Atlanta. Amanda Peetoom is the Association’s Accounts Payable Assistant. Her position involves ensuring the organization’s bills are paid in a prompt and efficient manner. She also oversees posting financial transactions in accordance with accounting procedures and policies. Amanda joined the Association in 2010. She currently is pursuing a degree in Business Administration from Georgia Highlands College and is excited to be graduating this spring. Debbie Waterlander is the Accounts Receivable Assistant for the Association. She joined TLA in 2005. Her position involves ensuring the organization receives payment for goods and services. She also is responsible for sending statements for the Association and posting financial transactions in accordance with accounting procedures and policies. When Debbie isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband, Ron, have two adult sons, Kevin and Brian, and three grandchildren, James, Marshall, and Josephine.
