Pandemic 2020

“The Landings understands how to help Soldiers and families. I tell of the daughter, the wife of a soldier here, who was able to visit her dying mother, with the help of the Landings Fund, which acted quickly to provide her next day airline ticket. You are warm-hearted people of action and we are the beneficiaries. On behalf of the entire Marne Family and Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Tenant Units, we look forward to a continued partnership with the Landings.”

Major General Jeffery E. Phillips

Above, is a quote written by now retired Major General Jeffrey E. Philips, back in 2010 while he was Deputy Commanding General of the 3rd ID. I reached back in my files to reflect on an early thank you!

Now, we sit in a time period of almost complete shutdown, which resulted in the cancellation of one of our primary fundraisers, the annual LMFRF Military Appreciation Golf Tournament for 2020. Yet in spite of the Global Pandemic, our community continues the level of support our men and women in uniform and their families appreciate.

Eleven years beyond MG Philip’s tribute, you, The Landings community, continue to support those who are willing to sacrifice and protect us, on a totally volunteer basis.

The Board of Directors of the Landings fund is so very grateful for your support and so proud of our community.

As we all struggle to move to normalcy, one activity, golf, has received accolades for helping provide relief from boredom. Please consider supporting our 2021 Golf event being held on March 15. Mark your calendar and save-the-date! It is always colorful and fun. Even if you don’t play, you can honor a family veteran or veterans of your choice by purchasing a Hole sponsorship Sign.

If you are a member of a group, new to the Landings, or you would like to understand more about the Landings Fund please call Chair Bob Longueira (598-2875). We want everyone in The Landings to feel connected to the Fund because it is our instrument of support to the men and women of our local military.

If you would like to make a contribution to the Fund, please make your Check Payable to SCF LMFRF and send them to the following address:

Savannah Community Foundation
2225 Norwood Ave. Suite B
Savannah Ga. 31406

If you or any organization is in need of a donation form, please call Lou Molella (598 8272).

On behalf of the entire LMFRF Board, a heartfelt thank you for your continued support.
