Engineering Work in Tidewater Square Begins November 23

On Monday, November 23, Terracon Consultants, Inc. will begin some geotechnical work to obtain boring samples in Tidewater Square. The purpose of this work is to determine the soil stratigraphy and to estimate soil parameters. Once the samples have been obtained, Terracon will complete an engineering evaluation and report. Additionally, Coleman Surveying Company will survey the square to obtain the road’s right-of-way, topography, pavement limits, above-ground utilities, etc. All information obtained through these evaluations and subsequent reports will help the Public Works Department prepare for future repairs and associated costs to maintain the square.

Over the last year, the condition of Tidewater Square has rapidly deteriorated. Although Public Works team members have replaced bricks to improve the square’s drivability, an engineered evaluation is required to determine replacement costs and material for replacement. The current bricks for the square no longer are being produced.

While work is taking place on Tidewater Square, please be cognizant and exercise caution when driving. Thank you in advance for your patience and support as we continue to improve the infrastructure located throughout the community.
