Calling All Boaters and Turtle Lovers!

Are you looking for a socially responsible and socially distant way to have a great time while giving back to the community that surrounds our beautiful island? Then join the Caretta Research Project (CRP) for a fundraising Concert on the River featuring the Rolling Stones tribute band “Monkey Man” on Saturday, September 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. on the Herb River. We invite you to RSVP, make a donation, attend by boat, and anchor in the river to enjoy the band while observing social distancing. Can’t make it to the party? No problem! Grab a turtle-tini and join us online October 21 at 7 p.m. for a one-hour Virtual Concert Fundraiser and Escape from 2020 online auction to raise funds for the research and protection of the turtles in our own backyard on the Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge. Click here for the Save the Dates and more information. The Caretta Research Project is the longest running contiguous loggerhead sea turtle research program in the United States. With the help of more than 3,500 volunteers from around the world and generous support of sponsors and donors, CRP has tagged and collected data on more than 1,920 loggerheads, monitored and protected 5,155 nests, and released more than 350,000 hatchlings into the Atlantic Ocean. The CRP Board of Directors thanks you for your generosity and for supporting the Caretta Research Project. Please be assured that all proceeds go directly to the operations of the Caretta Research Project and the hands-on research and lifesaving programs to protect our loggerhead sea turtles. Let’s spend the night together on the river on September 19 and again virtually on October 21 to celebrate the turtles! For more information about the Caretta Research Project, please email WassawCRP@aol.com.
