COVID-19

A First Shift (6:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.) Security Officer tested positive for COVID19 on June 30 and is quarantined. All First Shift officers who worked with this employee are being tested and will not return to work until negative test results are received. All TLA employees and residents were advised of the positive test result.

Fires

On Saturday, June 27, a resident notified Landings Security that she saw lightning strike a palm tree at the corner of Shellwind Drive and Sedgewater Retreat, and the tree appeared to be smoking. Landings Security and Chatham Emergency Services (CES) responded to the area and noticed the tree as well as the surrounding area beneath the tree had caught fire. CES quickly extinguished the fire and monitored the area to ensure it did not reignite. No injuries or additional damages were reported.

Landings Security and CES responded to a residence on Landings Way South for a possible electrical fire on Sunday, June 28. The resident stated that her lights had begun flickering, and she was concerned that something had caught fire. Emergency personnel located charred telephone lines in the residence, and Georgia Power was contacted for assistance. While emergency personnel were on scene, southbound traffic was diverted down Peregrine Crossing. No injuries or additional damages were reported.

Bicycle Accidents

Landings Security and CES responded to the intersection of Landings Way North and Tidewater Way for a report of a bicycle accident on Monday, June 29. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the injured resident who stated that she was riding her bicycle on the cart path and her bike tire came into contact with some sand on the path when she was turning a corner. The sand caused her to lose traction resulting in her falling off the bicycle. The resident sustained some injuries to her knee and elbow and was treated on scene. Public Works was notified immediately and removed the sand from the path.

On Monday, June 29, a resident reached out via email to notify various Landings Association personnel of a bicycle accident he was involved in on Sunday, June 21. The resident reported that he was turning onto the path adjacent to Landings Way South after crossing from Westcross Road when the bicycle suddenly slid out from under him, causing him to fall on the concrete. Upon inspection, he noticed sand on the path. The resident suffered injuries which required medical attention. Upon notification, Public Works removed the sand from the path and will continue to look for ways to improve safety on our paths.

Thefts

On Saturday, June 27, Landings Security and Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) responded to a residence on Tidewater Way for a report of a theft. The resident stated that his dog began barking at approximately 4:15 a.m. When he turned on an exterior light, he saw an unidentified person running from the area and noticed that an interior light in his vehicle was on. Upon inspection, the resident stated that his wallet had been moved and was missing approximately $300. There were no signs of forced entry.

Landings Security responded to Springfield Retreat on Tuesday, June 30, for a report of a theft. The resident stated that a hammock and its accompanying tethering rope had been taken from her front yard on either Sunday or Monday night. The estimated value of the missing items is $90. Extra patrols will be performed in the area.
