Dog Attack

On Tuesday, May 5, Landings Security responded to a residence on Tidewater Way in reference to a dog attack. The resident advised that she was walking her dog on the path located behind her home when a dog came out of a yard on Wiley Bottom Road and began attacking her dog. Her dog sustained two puncture wounds on the back and was taken to the vet for treatment prior to Security’s arrival. The resident further advised that she was bitten on the finger and scratched on the arm while attempting to pull her dog away from the incident. Contact was made with the dog’s owners to advise them of the incident; however, they indicated that they have an electric fence and do not believe it was their dog involved. The report was forwarded to Animal Services for further investigation, and both parties were provided statement forms to be completed, if they so desire. 

Vandalism

Officers continued increased patrols and surveillance for the Kid’s Fishing lagoon due to continued vandalism. Public Works staff installed warning and reward signs around the lagoon. Pursuant to TLA’s Rule B.1. Vandalism is prohibited. Vandals will be prosecuted. We are hopeful the reward for the arrest and conviction of vandals will encourage residents to provide TLA Security and CCPD with leads for the latest vandalism to a bench adjacent to the lagoon, and possibly information about previous incidents of vandalism to the fish feeders and fish food dispenser.

Suspicious Incidents

At approximately 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, Landings Security responded to a fire alarm at the Sunset Pavilion. Upon arrival, Chatham Emergency Services (CES) already was on scene. CES personnel advised that the pull station alarm by the prep area had been activated, but it was determined to be a false alarm. At approximately 7:30 a.m., CES personnel notified Security that they discovered a radio had been taken from the fire station upon their return. Chatham County Police Department was dispatched for further action. At approximately 11 a.m., CES personnel notified Security that the radio had been located in the home of a suspect, and the suspect was charged with theft by receiving stolen property.

On Friday, May 1, Landings Security responded to Middleton Road for a possible lost juvenile. The resident reporting the incident advised that a young female rang his doorbell but left before he could answer the door. Upon reviewing the video captured on his doorbell camera, he advised that the girl appeared to be distressed. Security patrolled the area but was not able to locate the individual or the vehicle in which she appeared to have been. There were no similar incidents reported. Security is attempting to identify the individual in the video.

While on golf cart patrol in the area of Landings Way South near Black Hawk Trail, Landings Security noticed statements regarding domestic violence and derogatory text about law enforcement written in chalk on the path. The officer poured water on the chalk to clear it. It is unknown who wrote the statement or when it was written.
