General Manager's Update - 3-6-2020

General Manager/COO, The Landings Association

Dear Residents,

Your Landings Association staff have been closely monitoring the information and updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Georgia Department of Health, and the Coastal Health District of Georgia on COVID-19. For your convenience, links to the CDC and Coastal Health District are posted on our website Home Page (www.landings.org).

This week, all Association employees began implementing the prevention protocols and guidance recommended by the CDC. These include frequent disinfectant cleaning of high-touch surfaces, including workstations, equipment, vehicles, doorknobs, countertops, bathroom fixtures, and light switches. Discussions were held with all employees to reinforce the importance of frequent and thorough hand cleaning, cough and sneeze etiquette, limiting direct physical contact with others (handshaking), and staying home when sick. These protocols also are best practices during our active cold and flu season.

The Landing Association has a long history of active planning for various emergencies that could impact or arise in our community, from severe weather to pandemics such as bird flu. To view our Emergency Operations Plan for Skidaway Island, please click here.  In all such possible scenarios, we follow the guidance and direction from the local, state, or federal agencies with the expertise and authority as appropriate for our community. Part of our routine planning includes activation of our Emergency Action Team (EAT). This team is composed of island organizations that work together to ensure the sharing of information and status updates for a coordinated planning response. We have scheduled a remote meeting of these island partners for next week to share information and coordinate planning efforts regarding Covid-19 to minimize the potential of an impact on our community.

While the Association’s role and authority in such matters are limited to ensuring business continuity of our services and operations to you, we encourage everyone to follow the guidance of the professionals to help protect your health and well-being and that of our community and employees.
