CCA March Meeting

The Secret Underground Water System of The Landings will be the topic of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) of Skidaway’s March meeting and seminar on March 9, at St. Peter’s Church, beginning at 7 p.m. Sean Burgess, The Landings Association’s Public Works Director, will be the speaker.

Burgess will talk about and show The Landings’ underground water and lagoon systems and explain how the components tie together to create the great Landings environment. He will cover the relationship between the Association and the CCA’s Skidaway Chapter and how the entities work together to make the lagoons a great community amenity. Burgess also will highlight the cooperative efforts of the Lagoon Committee and the Public Works Department in monitoring salinity, seining, electrofishing, fish stocking, and placing the underwater structures that enhance the local fishing environment.

Burgess joined the Association’s team in 2004. His long tenure and experience in The Landings led to his promotion from Environmental Manager to Public Works Director in July 2019. His primary duties include contract and project management, administration, and the strategic planning of the department, including Environmental, Construction, Buildings and Grounds, and Fleet.

A 2002 graduate of Lakeland College (Sheboygan, Wisconsin), he holds a BA degree in Biology. Before joining the Association, he was a Fishery Technician and then an Aquatic Biologist, both in the state of Wisconsin. When Burgess is not attending to Public Works duties, he enjoys being outdoors with his family, fishing, camping, kayaking, hiking, boating, and gardening.

CCA’s March raffle will present to a lucky winner an inshore charter package for two, with Capt. Brian Woelber of One More Cast Charters. The value of this terrific package is $350.
