At the PGA TOUR’s season-ending Tournament Meetings, the Korn Ferry Tour announced The Landings Military Family Relief Fund (LMFRF), as one of the benefitting charities of the Savannah Golf Championship, as the 2019 Korn Ferry Tour Charity of the Year.

“We as a community are honored to be selected as the 2019 Korn Ferry Tour Charity of the Year,” said The Landings Military Family Relief Fund Board of Directors President Tom Osborn. “We are passionate about our organization and our work with the military and this award will help us further our mission and impact, and for that we’re very grateful.”

The Landings Military Family Relief Fund was founded in 2007 by Landings residents. The fund provides financial support via contributions to coastal military personnel and their families. The Landings Military Family Relief Fund is managed by the Savannah Community Foundation Inc. with individual casework being administered by the offices of United Way. In addition, the Fund provides grants to assist military spouses and soldiers in furthering their education. It provides support to the local USO and continuously reaches out for opportunities to assist our active duty military and their families. Rather than loaning money to aid in emergencies, the fund operates with grants and can quickly respond to emergencies after military approval.

As Charity of the Year, the Korn Ferry Tour will donate $5,000 to The Landings Military Family Relief Fund.

“We are thrilled to name The Landings Military Family Relief Fund as the recipient of the Korn Ferry Tour’s 2019 Charity of the Year Award,” said Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin. “Cheyenne Overby and her team have created an event that has become an essential part of the Savannah community, raising nearly $50,000 for 11 tournament charity partners in 2019. We are bullish on the future of this great event and we look forward to expanding that impact in 2020.”

“To see The Landings Military Relief Fund recognized by the Korn Ferry Tour as the Charity of the Year is a great honor for our tournament, but more important is the positive impact the $5,000 donation will have on their year-round efforts and the marvelous work they are doing in our community,” said Overby.

At the 2019 Savannah Golf Championship, Dan McCarthy earned his first Korn Ferry Tour victory at The Landings Club – Deer Creek Course. McCarthy held off Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year Scottie Scheffler on the 72nd hole to win by one stroke. The Savannah Golf Championship will enter its third year on the Korn Ferry Tour schedule in 2020, with the event set for April 2-5.
