On the Security Scene

Vehicle Accident

On Wednesday, October 23, Security, Chatham Emergency Services (CES), and Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident at Westcross Road and Diamond Causeway. A resident stated that he was entering Westcross Road from Diamond Causeway when he struck the lawn blower being used by a BrightView employee. The resident stated that he did not see the man or the equipment. Neither person sustained injuries; however, the vehicle and the blower both had damages. CCPD issued a citation for failure to exercise due care.

Security and CES responded to a residence on Delegal Road for a report of a fire on Sunday, October 27. Upon arrival, officers learned that a gas grill had caught fire due to a large buildup of debris on the grill. The fire had been extinguished prior to their arrival. CES checked the grill and determined that it was not in danger of reigniting.

A volunteer with the Coastal Conservation Association’s Skidaway Chapter (CCA) reported that one of the signs from the covered pavilion near The Kids’ Fishing Lagoon (located at the corner of Log Landing and Westcross roads) was missing. The sign is one of two which identifies the pavilion as the “Coastal Conservation Association Outdoor Education Center.” It is unknown when the sign was last seen.
