Join us at the Jepson Center on September 9 for a Coffee Reception at 10 a.m. followed by our meeting at 10:30 a.m. The new Executive Director/CEO of Telfair Museums, Robin Graeme Nicholson, will be our guest. His topic will be The Next Telfair Strategic Plan: Overview of the planning process --- timeline and goals for Telfair Museums with the new strategic plan.

Nicholson has been Executive Director/CEO of Telfair Museums since early 2019. Previously, he was Executive Director of the Frick in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, overseeing a six-acre museum that includes one of the best-preserved Gilded Age mansions in America, historic gardens, a car and carriage museum, and an art museum with exceptional examples of Renaissance to 19th-century European paintings and decorative arts.

From 2006-2014, he was Deputy Director for Art and Education and Head of Exhibitions at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, where he oversaw many major exhibition projects, including the multi-year collaboration with the Palace Museum, Beijing, that culminated in October 2014 with the exhibition Forbidden City: Imperial Treasures from the Palace Museum, Beijing, and the 2011 exhibition Picasso: Masterpieces from the MuseePicasso in Paris, the most expensive and ambitious exhibition in VMFA’s history.

Nicholson, a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, was educated at Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada, and the University of Cambridge, England. He is a renowned scholar of the art of the 18th-century Stuart royal courts in Paris and Rome, and he also has published and lectured on other aspects of 18th and 19th-century European art.
