Recycling Center Needs Volunteers

Courtesy of The R3 (Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse) Committee

Your neighbors have been faithfully staffing The Landings Recycling Center on McWhorter Drive, which has helped a great deal with ensuring our compactors contain the correct materials and are compacting efficiently.

The recycling market currently is in flux, so having clean loads is critical to ensuring we get revenue from the loads.

Additional help is needed to cover shifts at the Center. Duties include educating people who visit the Center to ensure they put the right materials in the right compactors and cycling the compactors (which mainly involves closing the door at the right points). Hours spent volunteering at the Center can be a very social time and really makes a positive difference. You will receive training/mentoring from current Recycling Center members. And you get to wear one of those cool yellow vests!

If you can give even a few hours a month, please contact Don McCulloch (dcmccull@bellsouth.net or 912-308-6624).

Thanks for being part of the solution!
