Have you ever paid attention to the colors when watching fireworks displays like you’ll see soon as part of Independence Day celebrations? You might notice that reds and whites are used more frequently than blues and purples. Metal powders or salts are responsible for providing the color of fireworks and the copper compounds used for blue-colored fireworks often are unstable at high temperatures and break apart, making blue fireworks hard to produce.
