Reported Fires

Security & Chatham Emergency Services (CES) responded to a reported fire on Fat Friar's Retreat on Thursday, June 13. The resident advised that a plumber had been performing work earlier in the day and accidentally caught some insulation on fire.The resident continued to smell smoke and was concerned the fire was not completely extinguished. CES thoroughly checked the residence and reported no fires.

On Friday, June 14, Security & CES responded to Dame Kathryn Drive for a report of a fire. An oven in one of the units had caught on fire, but the resident was able to extinguish it before units arrived. The oven was removed from the scene, and no injuries were reported.

Disturbing the Peace

Security received several noise complaints on the evening of Friday, June 16. The initial complaint stated that the noise originated near the Oakridge Club. Security patrols spoke with two different residents in the area who were having parties and determined that neither were the offender. The responding officer continued patrolling and determined the noise was coming from the Franklin Creek area. Upon further investigation, the officer learned that The Landings Club was hosting a Dive-In Party at the Franklin Creek Pool. At 10:15 p.m., Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) responded to the area and advised the manager on duty that the music was exceeding the noise ordinance level and needed to be turned off. Security will proactively patrol the area during future events to monitor noise levels, and Steven Freund was advised of the incident.

Suspicious Incidents

On Thursday, June 13, Security responded to the area of Westcross Road and Sparnel Road for a report of individuals going through bulk trash items. Contact was made with a vendor who was authorized by a resident for a daily pass. The responding officer explained to the individual that he was not authorized to drive around the island picking trash and only was allowed to perform work at the address where he had been authorized. The vendor ceased activity and left the area. No previous infractions were on file for this vendor.

Security responded to Seawatch Drive for a report of a suspicious vehicle on Monday, June 17. The vehicle belonged to a Landings Club employee who advised that the vehicle was inoperable due to a problem with the fuel pump. He also stated that he was in the process of having the vehicle removed from the location. The original complainant was advised of the findings.

Security responded to The Landings Company on Tuesday, June 18, for a report of missing real estate signs from different properties. TLCo President, Raoul Rushin, explained that approximately once a week the signs disappear from the front yards of homes for sale within the community. The signs are valued at $150 each. Security patrols will be on the lookout for signs that appear to have been uprooted and tossed in other locations.
