Join us at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 at Delegal Creek Marina for Sunset Sips featuring the University of Georgia Skidaway Institute of Oceanography's Elizabeth Harvey. Scientists have long searched tropical forests and other ecosystems to find substances to create new drugs, but until recently, the world’s oceans have been largely overlooked. That now is changing as chemicals derived from the ocean are becoming the basis of drugs ranging from antibiotics to HIV treatments. Harvey, a researcher at the Institute, will discuss these trends in a program entitled The Ocean – The Earth’s Medicine Cabinet.

The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. with time for residents to mingle with the presenter and enjoy light refreshments (provided by the sponsors) and purchase beer or wine (cash only). The presentation will begin at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a brief Q & A session.
