Skidaway Island Incorporation Vote Fails

Voters have chosen not to incorporate Skidaway Island into its own city. Based on official results, the proposal to incorporate Skidaway Island failed, with the number of “No” votes (3,656) higher than the number of “Yes” votes (2,193). 

A total of 5,849 registered voters of Skidaway Island participated, for a turnout percentage of 72.51%.

This means Skidaway Island will not become its own city but will remain part of unincorporated Chatham County.
