The Landings Sailing Club (TLSC) January Update

• Winter finally caught up with sailors in January, with a few racing days cancelled due to rain, cold, wind, or all three. There are some days when even TLSC sailors would rather be on the couch watching NFL playoffs!
• However, the weather was perfect on January 10 for the Frostbite #2 Regatta when our Rhodes 19s and J/24s were all in action. TLSC’s J/24 Bonnie Blue, skippered by Dave Bailey, had an awesome day, beating the larger High Visibility by a substantial margin on corrected time after an expert start and flawless sailing. The crew of Rhodes 19 Uno Mas, skippered by James Nicol, had watched Dave closely and managed to do the same. The Frostbite series continues through March, with the next regattas on February 7 and 21.  The race committee for these regattas is provided by TLSC.
• TLSC continues to upgrade its boats! A relatively new Stuart-built Rhodes 19 in tremendous shape was purchased this month and brought to the club. It is undergoing some upgrades, a naming ceremony – she will be called Tinkerbell - and is our third, newer boat purchased in a year. At the same time, our oldest boat was disposed of this month to make way for it. We also have sold one of our J/24s, as part of the same refurbishment program. Farewell and fair winds Scarlett!  
• Weekly TLSC races in February will be on Sunday the 1^st and 15^th.
• TLSC promotes opportunities for club members to sail, and bareboat chartering is a great way to experience the joys of sailing in exotic locations, with experienced other crew members. Our own Angela Margolit leads trips offered by Society for the Education of American Sailors (SEAS). Their next trip is to Martinique in February 2026.
