On the Security Scene

Please note that a brief synopsis is provided for pertinent incidents that Security responds to during the previous week. All incidents are not covered in the weekly recap. Statistics for incident reports are provided below.

Hit and Run

On Wednesday, January 7, a Landings Association Public Works employee notified Security that the golf cart he was driving was hit by a vehicle while he was driving on Landings Way near Pensyre Retreat. The employee stated that the driver of the vehicle pulled up next to him driving slowly and refused to move over to create a safe distance between the two vehicles despite no other vehicles traveling in either direction. The employee went on to state that he felt the impact of the vehicle connecting with the driver side front section of the golf cart. The employee called out to the driver, but the driver did not stop. A report was filed with Chatham County Police Department (CCPD), and the driver was issued a citation. There were no major damages or injuries sustained from the incident.

Suspicious Incidents

On Saturday, January 10, a resident on Skipjack Lane contacted Landings Security to report that he witnessed a suspicious man and woman approach his front door and peer in the windows on his doorbell camera. Officers performed a premise check but found nothing unusual. Extra patrols were performed in the area throughout the weekend.

Gate Coverage

Due to continued issues with the Deer Creek Village gate, Security Officers staffed the gate until a temporary solution was implemented. Earlier this week, the temporary solution failed, and Supervisors are in the process of staffing the gate. Security and Public Works management teams continue to work with our preferred vendor for a complete replacement of the gate system.

Motorized vehicles on the Community Paths

Officers have observed an increase in motorized vehicles on community paths. TLA’s rules state, “Motorized Vehicles, other than Golf Carts and class 1 and 2 electric bicycles, are not permitted on Community Paths and trails.” Several of the battery powered “dirt bikes” have been identified as Class II eBikes, which are allowed on the paths. Officers are initiating contact with operators to ensure these motorized bikes are, in fact, not prohibited and are classified as type I or II eBikes. Motorized scooters are prohibited, and Officers are issuing citations for violators.

Access Management

During the Holiday season, Officers witnessed an increase in guests, vendors, and deliveries not being preauthorized. A simple rule to keep in mind - if you are expecting anyone to enter the community, you should ensure they are preauthorized on your list. To preauthorize guests, vendors, and deliveries, simply download the GateAccess by ABDi app or visit the GateAccess website (www.gateaccess.net), and use the following login credentials:

  • Community Code: TLA
  • Username: Your primary email address on file with The Landings Association
  • Password: Your personal PIN (used to authorize guests)

Extra Patrols

From January 7 to 13, Landings Security performed 129 extra patrols throughout the community in addition to their routine patrols and duties.

Traffic Safety Update

The Guardian Pro Camera has been deployed on Bartram Road near Wickersham Drive. From January 7 to 13, there were 29 violations. The highest recorded speed was 58 MPH, and that driver has been recommended for suspension for 30 days.
