Please note that a brief synopsis is provided for pertinent incidents that Security responds to during the previous week. All incidents are not covered in the weekly recap. Statistics for incident reports are provided below.
This week’s most notable security concerns were property damage, vandalism, and a number of suspicious incidents including potential gunshots being heard.
Property Damage
On Wednesday, December 17, a resident on Benedictine Retreat reported that she heard her back rear window shatter and was concerned that someone was trying to break into her home. The responding Officer walked the perimeter of the home and found a frozen can of Hopped Hard Cider as well as two limes and a grapefruit near the broken window. A report was filed with Chatham County Police Department (CCPD). No other similar incidents were reported.

Officers patrolled the surrounding areas with negative results. While patrolling the area, Landings Security received call from a resident on Peregrine Crossing about what they believed may have been possible gunshot. Officers patrolled the area with negative results. Approximately 10 minutes later, Landings Security received a call from a resident on Landings Way North regarding possible gunshots in the area. Officers patrolled the area and heard a single firework being shot two separate times. An Officer located a spent firework near the Dog Park but did not locate the individuals responsible. A callback was placed to the residents informing them of our findings.
On Wednesday, December 31, Landings Security responded to Islanders Retreat for a report of a suspicious person. The resident reported that an unknown male rang her doorbell and asked for jumper cables before walking to the rear of the residence. Officers conducted a perimeter check with negative results. After checking the perimeter of the home, Officers checked the surrounding areas for an individual matching the man’s description but did not locate anyone, and no other suspicious incidents or persons were reported.
Vandalism
On Thursday, January 1, Landings Security responded to Noble Jones Lane for a report of possible vandalism. A large tent in a resident’s back yard had PVC pipe disconnected and the plastic tarp removed. The resident did not believe that this damage was caused by the wind due to the fact that other items in the yard were still in place. Nothing else was moved or missing from the yard. The resident did not want to file a report with CCPD.
