The Landings Sailing Club (TLSC) January Update
Wed, 01/07/2026 - 4:25pm
- Over the past month, The Landings Sailing Club (TLSC) sailors enjoyed several weekends of excellent racing, and recreational sailing during the week. Its always such a pleasure to be out on the Wilmington River in December, and sailors were not disappointed.
- The club had a very enjoyable Holiday party on December 16 attended by virtually every member. At the event, Angela Margolit was presented with the Marty Vernick Rhodes 19 Sportsmanship trophy, well deserved acknowledgment of her significant contribution to membership growth. One of the club’s founders, Mike Rouzee, recognized Doug Powelson, our commodore, with the Founders Trophy. John Leamon was presented the Broken Rib award for the work, along with George Orient, to refurbish Rhodes 19 rudders. A good time was had by all!
- Weekly TLSC races in January will be on Sunday the 4th, and Sunday the 18th.
- The Frostbite Series continues in January, with race days on Saturdays on the 10th and 24th. Our Rhodes 19s and J/24s will be competing in different classes with larger yachts from other area clubs. TLSC provides race committee for this series.
- TLSC promotes opportunities for club members to sail, and bareboat chartering is a great way to experience the joys of sailing in exotic locations, with experienced other crew members. Our own Angela Margolit leads trips offered by Society for the Education of American Sailors (SEAS). Their next trip is to Martinique in February 2026.
