A group of Skidaway Island Boating Club (SIBC) members recently brought a touch of the tropics to the Tiki Bar at Landings Harbor Marina.

At a meeting in May to discuss refurbishing the Tiki Bar stools, former SIBC Commodore Lee Carroll suggested the finished stools have a tropical theme.

On July 15, SIBC members gathered at Landings Harbor Marina for the big reveal, and applauded the efforts of the creative volunteers, including Joe Witten, Bud Equi, June and Steve Hernandez, Charlene and Hugh Upton, Wayne Shebilske, Linny Dillard, Patti and Ed Richards, and Lee Carroll.

Tom Buchas served as Master of Ceremonies and entertained the guests while the event judges, Marina Director Larry Sincoskie, and Security Director Tim Cook, carefully reviewed each bar stool to vote for Best Detail Work and Most Creative. Attendees voted for the People’s Choice Award.

The winners were Patti and Ed Richards for Best Detail Work, and Linny Dillard for Most Creative. Dillard also won the People’s Choice Award. The volunteers received a gift from SIBC in recognition of their time and effort to bring the bar stools back to life.

When visiting the Tiki Bar, look on the back of each bar stool for the name of the SIBC member who helped make the Tiki Bar a fun place to hang out.
