Message From Our President

The Landlovers Board voted unanimously in mid-March to suspend all Landlovers events for the remainder of our fiscal year, which runs through May 31.

Our decision was based on concern for our members and the guidelines stated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CDC, in accordance with its guidance for large events, recommends that for the next eight weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) in the United States cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 or more people. Events of any size should be continued only if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene, and social distancing.

Because Landlovers cannot guarantee that people will adhere to the guidelines for protecting others, we decided to err on the side of caution. We have had a terrific year and want to make sure that all our stakeholders and team members stay safe.

I cannot thank you enough for your dedication to Landlovers this year. You have rejuvenated the organization, and it has been a privilege to serve as your President.

Sincerely,

Bonnie Kelly

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU for Generously Supporting Landlovers!

We are very grateful for YOU! Through your support, hard work, and dedication. We had a tremendous year of fundraising, allowing the Landlovers Foundation to fund scholarships for employees, announce merit award winners, and provide grants to island entities again this year. Our fundraising events include Games Day, Flea Market, and Auctionmania. We are proud to publish the amounts raised thanks to your generosity.

  • GAMES DAY raised approximately $4,300 net (after expenses). This was a 15% increase from last year.

  • FLEA MARKET raised approximately $45,000 net (after taxes and expenses). This was a 20% increase from last year!

  • AUCTIONMANIA raised approximately $20,500 net (after taxes and expenses). This was a 15% increase from last year!

There is still time to submit grant applications!

The money raised through our fundraisers will be given away via grants, scholarships, and merit awards. Grant applicants must be nonprofit or service organizations committed to volunteerism. Categories for Landlovers grants include the following:

  1. Social services for adults and children

  1. Nature projects: flora and fauna

  1. Health and safety projects

  1. Educational and cultural projects

There still is time to submit grant applications to Bonnie Kelly  (bonniekelly47@gmail.com or 1 Caisson Crossing, Savannah, GA 31411). The deadline is April 6. We will announce all of the winners at the end of April. The Award Ceremony that was previously scheduled for May 6 is canceled due to our Coronavirus Policy.

Some special memories from our fabulous fundraisers!
