Fun Fact Friday

Did you know that 85% of girls who participate in Girls on the Run show a significant increase in confidence following the program? Girls on the Run is a nonprofit organization that works to foster positive self-esteem and leadership in young women through games and physical activity. It is not a track team. The program began in 1996 in North Carolina and has now grown to include councils in all 50 states, plus Puerto Rico and Canada, serving nearly two million young women since its inception. Our local council (Girls on the Run of Coastal Georgia and the Lowcountry) serves more than 650 girls each school semester, with programs at 36 schools and two community sites spanning five counties in Coastal Georgia and South Carolina.

The fall program of Girls on the Run at The Landings serves third through fifth grade girls and kicks off September 5, running (pun intended) through November 9.
