Access Control Facilities Lightning Strike

Utilities, Inc. Water Main Break

Late Wednesday afternoon, a water main break occurred on Landings Way South at the intersection of Westcross Road. The breakage resulted in road damage to Landings Way South that was caused by the failure of a straight-line sleeve repair from the original construction of the waterline system. This failure ultimately triggered a 12-inch pipe buried deep in the ground to rupture. Utilities, Inc. worked late into the night on Wednesday to repair and reconnect the broken water main. Thereafter, they were able to compact the soils of the roadway and place a gravel base on top of the road to allow for this area to be reopened until arrangements for repaving are made. Staff will be working with Utilities, Inc. and Bennett Paving on the road repair which will be at the expense of Utilities, Inc.

Sunset Sips Presentation

For the last two years, Turf Field Day has been cancelled due to weather related events. In order to provide the educational information related to water conservation, turf management, irrigation best practices, shallow wells and state water restrictions, staff decided to incorporate the presentations into the Sunset Sips Series at the Delegal Sunset Room in July and August. On Thursday, Sean Burgess gave a presentation on Shallow Wells and Ron Medders provided an overview on the State Water Restrictions. Next month, Chad Jaudon (with BrightView) and Chris Steigleman (with TLC) will present on Turf Management and Irrigation Best Practices.
