Security Update

The second year of the Web.com Tour golf tournament was a huge success, and the Military Appreciation Day was well received by all generations. During the event, Security personnel counted 553 golf carts. The good news is that only five carts were unregistered, and three carts had modified decals. Staff identified two of the cart owners and even registered one of the carts while the owners watched the tournament unfold at Schooner Cove. Another cart was registered within a week. All things considered, the “bad news” really is not that bad; however, our goal is to have 100% of privately-owned golf carts registered properly, not 98.9%! Please help us reach our goal by registering your golf cart with The Landings Association or replacing your altered decals. Simply complete the golf cart registration form online (landings.org/golf-cart-registration) and a member of our Security team will call to schedule a convenient time for us to come to you and complete the process! If you purchased a golf cart from another homeowner, please be sure to register the cart in your name. Mark your calendars and set a reminder in your phone for The Landings Association’s Hurricane Town Hall Meeting on June 12 at the Plantation Club starting at 7 p.m.

Last year, we acquired Swift911 technology, which has enabled the Association to rapidly disseminate information to a vast number of residents who have opted-in to various categories, such as general information, traffic alerts for the island, utility outages, and security alerts. If you have not opted-in for this free notification service, please sign up today, as this will be one of TLA’s primary means of distributing information in the event of a hurricane. We still are working with Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) and various parcel delivery services to identify the thief who stole two packages (that we know of) from a home equipped with a Ring.com doorbell. These devices, along with other home security cameras, have assisted us in capturing images. Unfortunately, unlike CSI, we do not have a database of everyone in the world to compare the images for identification. Please refer to the article posted in a recent weekly Enews Digest (www.landings.org/news/2019/03/29/theft-mad-turkey-crossing) to see if you recognize the person pictured. Unfortunately, the photo quality is too low to publish in the Journal. If you have any information regarding this crime, please call CrimeStoppers (912-234-2020) or Landings Security (912-598-2661). We also were not able to identify the youth captured on video surveillance in TLC’s Wellness Center after hours on January 1. The video image is posted on our website (www.landings.org/news/2019/01/17/do-you-know-person). If you know this person, please call Landings Security (912-598-2661).

In closing, I recognize Mark Smith for eight years of service to our community as a Security Team Member. Mark unexpectedly passed away on March 25, 2019. His gentle spirit and kind heart were a blessing to us all. He will be missed by everyone on our team. May we live each day to its fullest and truly appreciate each other’s contributions towards making this world a little brighter. Mark certainly did his part.

Landings Association Member Requests and Observations

• Golf carts and vehicles entering Coventry Close are cutting the corner and entering on the left side of the road, which is the wrong side. Please do not cut the corner, and stay in your appropriate lane.
• As a reminder, ALL traffic in cul-de-sacs should follow standard vehicle flow, and flow to the right.
• Right turns without stopping at stop signs and other flagrant violations of stop signs also were noted by residents and Security personnel over the past last few months. Unfortunately, the list is far too long to specify all the challenging areas, but a few of the most popular intersections include Bartram Road and Landings Way North, Coventry Close and Yam Gandy, and Franklin Creek and Westcross roads. The message is simple and one we all know: Stop at stop signs (golf cart traffic included).

CPR & AED Training

The Landings Association is offering CPR/AED classes on June 7 at The Landings Association’s Conference Room (600 Landings Way South). Because class size is limited, we will offer two sessions, one from 9 to 11 a.m. and the other from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Both sessions will cover the same information.
