Earth Day Picnic in the Park: April 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Landings Harbor

After you’ve found all of the Easter eggs at Plantation Club, head up to Landings Harbor Marina on Saturday, April 20, and join your friends and neighbors for a sustainability-themed picnic to celebrate Earth Day (11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.). Pack an old-fashioned picnic with reusable containers and silverware to minimize waste, spread out a blanket, and enjoy the beauty of the waterfront.

Friends of Skidaway Audubon (FOSA) will be on site to show you how to compost at home and make your kitchen scrapes work for you. They will be joined by staff from Victory Gardens who will help children and adults play in the dirt to make seed balls. These balls can then be placed in your garden to sprout plants that attract birds, bees, and butterflies! There also will be some veggie starts, culinary herbs, native plants, and fruit trees for sale from Victory Gardens.

The Landings Dog Park will have biodegradable pet waste bags available for a small donation, so that even your four-legged family members can participate in the Earth Day festivities.

Don’t forget to bring your camera because there will be a special Earth Day photo booth on hand to capture the smiles and laughter of the day!
