Youth Room Update at Village Library

Have you visited the Youth Room at the Village Library recently? Did you know that we have more than 4,000 books for preschool and middle school readers? In 2018, we added more than 100 new books to the collection. Books are separated by age and reading level and are color coded.

  • Red Dots - Picture books and Preschool
  • Blue Dots - Elementary
  • Green Dots - Beginning Readers
  • Yellow Dots - Middle School

All youth books are located in the East Wing of the Library except middle school books, which are located to the right and left of the Youth Room entrance. We also have nonfiction books for both young and older children and a lovely collection of nature books donated by Skidway Audubon.

We carry many popular book series such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Judy Moody, Junie B. Jones, Middle School by James Patterson, Box Car Children, and Matt Christopher’s Sports Books. DVDs also are available for rental in the Youth area. Gently used books are for sale along the back wall of the Library.

On Tuesday mornings throughout the school year, we have Story Time for preschoolers. It runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Stories, singing, and movement activities are featured.

Last year, we started evening programs, hosting both a Halloween party and a Polar Express holiday party. Watch for information about our upcoming Pajama Party Story Time in February.

Please stop by and be sure to look high, low, and around the corners. We’re sure that you will find something fun to read!
