Who We Are

The Savannah Book Festival (SBF) takes place every Presidents’ Day weekend in historic museums, churches, and theaters around beautiful downtown Savannah. SBF invites a diverse array of nationally-recognized writers to gather at the Festival to exchange ideas with the audience and inspire the city of Savannah by showcasing both well-regarded and emerging authors. More than 10,000 people participated in the Festival last year.

What We Do

The 12th Annual Savannah Book Festival will take place February 14-17 in downtown Savannah. On February 16, the free and open to the public Festival Saturday will feature more than 40 authors, from a wide range of genres, who are scheduled to appear at one of the seven venues around Chippewa, Telfair, and Wright squares. Each author gives a 30-minute solo presentation about their inspiration and writing life, which is followed by a brief Q & A. Authors are available for book signings in Telfair Square immediately following their presentations.

SBF also hosts three ticketed Headline Author Addresses at Lucas Theatre. On Thursday, February 14, George and Paula Saunders will kick off the Festival with the Opening Address at 6 p.m. On Friday, February 15, Daniel Krauthammer will offer the Keynote Address at 6 p.m., and Lynn Vincent and Sara Vladic will wrap up the Festival with the Closing Address on Sunday, February 17 at 2 p.m.

In addition, SBF will host the SBF Children’s Tent on Sunday, February 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. in Reynolds Square. The SBF Children’s Tent will feature author appearances, activities, and book-signings and is co-sponsored by Live Oak Public Libraries and Live Oak Public Libraries Foundation.

How You Can Help

Many volunteers are needed to ensure that visitors and authors have a wonderful Festival experience. Venue Ushers are needed to assist the steady flow of Festival guests who come to hear the authors. Enthusiastic Greeters are needed for the Information Tent in Telfair Square. Logistically-minded Utility Players are needed to help set up the venues and keep the Festival moving along.
